The above symptoms in which Invisalign claims to work for patients still does have its limitations. Invisalign is not for everyone. In an article by Phan and Ling, it was stated that patients with the any of the following conditions may not be suitable candidtates for Invisalign:

  • Crowding and spacing which is 5mm or greater
  • Skeletal inconsistency of more than 2mm
  • Teeth which are severely rotated, usually more than 20 degrees
  • Open bites needed to be closed
  • Extrusion of teeth
  • Teeth severely tipped, usually more than 45 degrees
  • Teeth with crowns
  • Multiple missing teeth
